Insane Logic
Visual Power (Finland)

Otso Pakarinen (Ozone Player) is a motion graphics designer and musician based
in Helsinki, Finland who involves himself in every aspect of his music from
composition to artwork. Recording in various styles and with several bands
since 1972 (at the age of 12), Pakarinen cites Peter F Hamilton's "The Reality
of Dysfunction" a major influence on "Insane Logic".

"Insane Logic" is largely quite easy-going electronic music, warmer and more
organic sounding than the complex digital works that are common of late.
Pakarinen's work generally consists of gentle sweeping synths and soothing
(sometimes tense) drifting atmospheres with the addition of strange keyboard
tunes, low-key drones, odd voice samples and Asian music.

While "Insane Logic" exhibits some nice cinematic atmosphere and hints at
experimentalism, it somehow doesn't flow or sit together as well as it should.
This album comes across as too middle-of-the-road and would benefit from more
emphasis on the tense drifting synth atmospherics of "Whales In Fog" or "Insane
Logic", the darker qualities of "The Reality of Dysfunction" and the stabbing
beats of "Praise". "Insane Logic" shows some ideas and creativity, but lacks an
experimental edge.
