Ozone Player

Frozen Paint on Boiling Canvas

The one-man band Ozone Player treats us to a nice sample sheet of musical history.
The opening track, "The Sprawl", reminds us strongly of Jean-Michel Jarre because of
those solemn, cathedral-like sounds. "We are all carrying the burden of our future" is
a mix of Ryuichi Sakamoto (during the period of "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence") and
the more accessible work of The Residents. Frank Zappa pays a visit with his synclavier
(known from "Jazz From Hell") in "Limping Alien". "Freudian Sleep" has some industrial
sound charasteristics. "They are finally starting to come" contains many soundscapes.
Flutes from the middle ages are singing all around us in "Edgewood". "Spring Theory"
could have been one of the quieter tracks on a solo LP of Tony Banks. Also, whiffs of
Vangelis can be noticed. The only thing missing is music from the Berliner Schule.
So everyone can find something of his or her liking on this very diverse CD.
